I’ll admit that I’m an Elon Musk skeptic. I’ve ragged on him for his business practices, the sheer stupidity of the Cybertruck and the various ways he’s embarrassed himself on the internet, among numerous other things.
However, I’m not above giving credit where credit is due — and if this new video is to be believed, his company Neuralink is actually doing something pretty cool. Now, much of that can be attributed to the work of the scientists he hired and not the man himself, but again, I’m going to give him this one.
Recently, Musk announced that someone had the Neuralink implanted into their brain. Now, we know what that looks like — and it’s a dude playing Civilization VI.

According to a social media post from Neuralink, they’ve successfully implanted the device into a person. This person, a lovely nerd, has decided to use this technology to not only play chess, but the popular strategy game Civilization VI. Hey, I’d do the same thing.

Of course, I have all the highest hopes for the dude, and I really hope he doesn’t commit seppuku like all those monkeys who got the same implant did. But for the time being, I’m giving a reluctant shoutout to Musk and his team — ya did good.
